About the Creator
The Cycles Intervention for Bilingual Children Flashcards were
created by Valentina Gil, an expert bilingual speech language
pathologist who frequently implements and adapts the cycles
approach with her bilingual English-Spanish speaking clients.
Valentina is a proud first-generation Mexican-American and
native Spanish speaker. She works full-time as a school-based
SLP and is also the owner of Cultura Speech Therapy PLLC, in
Chicago. Her experience spans from early intervention through
middle school.
About the Resource
The Cycles Approach is a phonological intervention method
designed by Dr. Barbara W. Hodson. It is utilized to target multiple
speech sound patterns in children with severe to profound
phonological impairments. These specific flashcards were
designed to follow the traditional cycles approach and also
include important considerations needed to ethically treat
bilingual English-Spanish speaking children.
